Google Local Services

Google Local Services auto responder

Local Services Ads charge you per lead — when a customer messages, calls or books you through the ad — not per click. A message that waits until evening is a lead you have already paid for, and Google counts how quickly you respond when it decides who shows up first.

How Google Local Services actually works for you

You pay per lead, not per click

Local Services Ads charge for each valid lead: a message, a call or a booking that comes through your ad. If a lead is not valid — a job you do not offer, spam — you can dispute it in your Google Ads account. Every other lead is paid for whether or not anyone answered it.

Responding is part of how you rank

Google says Local Services ad ranking looks at your responsiveness to customer inquiries, alongside your proximity, reviews and business hours. A message left until the end of the day is a lead you paid for and a signal that you are slow — the cost lands twice.

The first message is short

A Local Services message usually starts with a line or two: the job and maybe the timing. The reply has to answer it and ask the one question that moves it toward a booking — not send back a form letter that could go to anyone.

What it sends

New leadreplied in 60s

Our AC ran all night but the house is still 82 degrees. Unit is about 9 years old, outside fan seems to be spinning. Two kids at home, would like someone out today if possible.

Sorry — 82 with two kids at home is not something to wait on. A spinning outside fan with no cooling usually points at the capacitor or a low refrigerant charge, and both are usually fixed in one visit. Is the air from the vents warm, or just not cold? Tell me what time today works for you and I will confirm.

Questions about Google Local Services

Is this allowed by Google?

It works through the official Google Ads API — the same one agencies use to manage Local Services leads. You connect with Google's own sign-in; we never see your password. The access is limited to reading your Local Services leads and their messages and replying in that chat — not your campaigns, budget or payment details.

How fast does it reply?

About a minute from the customer's message. We check your Local Services leads for anything new every 30 seconds, and the reply itself is written in seconds.

What about phone calls from the ad?

Calls still ring your business exactly as they do today. The AI works in the Local Services chat. If Google shows a customer's number with an extension, that is Google's forwarding line — dial the extension to reach them.

Will it change my Google Ads?

No. Budget, service areas, targeting and your profile stay in Google Ads. It changes only what happens after a lead you already paid for arrives.

The Google Ads account is not mine — can someone else connect it?

Yes. On Sources, create a link and send it to whoever has access to the Google Ads account. They sign in with their own Google account, with no sign-up here, and the account connects to your dashboard.
