Your season is short and the leads all arrive at once
The first warm weekend generates more inquiries than the rest of the month, and it is the same weekend your routes are fullest. A lead answered on Monday is a lead someone else already booked.
For pool and spa companies
Green water on a Saturday is an emergency; a service quote in November is not. ReplyThemAll answers both in seconds, tells them apart, and rings your phone only for the one that cannot wait.

A weekly cleaning route, a failed heater and a new spa install need different answers and different urgency. Reading each message to work out which is which is the part that never happens on a Saturday.
"Pool is green" could be a pump that stopped, a filter that needs backwashing, or a week of neglect after a storm. The question that sorts it takes ten seconds to ask and nobody is there to ask it.
A real request of the kind you get, and the reply that goes out before you have seen it.
Our pool went green over the weekend, we had guests coming Saturday. Pump seems to be running. Can someone come out?
Green after a weekend with the pump running usually means the chlorine got used up rather than anything mechanical, and that is usually quick to turn around. Is the water cloudy green or clear green? Cloudy usually means the filter needs attention too, which changes what I bring. Tell me what day works for you and I will confirm a time.
Demand is sharply seasonal and front-loaded: openings and repairs pile into the first warm weeks, routine service settles into a steady route through summer, and closings compress into a few autumn weekends. Spa and hot-tub work runs opposite — it picks up as the weather turns. Inside the season, speed decides everything, because a homeowner with guests coming books the first company that answers.

Every lead gets a reply in seconds, day or night, whether you are on a roof or asleep.
One extra job pays for hundreds of leads. That is the whole argument.
Yes — every lead is triaged before any reply is written. Urgent water problems get an urgent-toned reply and can ring your phone; a quote for weekly service does not.
Not unless you tell it to. Large work is treated as something that needs a site visit, because a blind number on a build is one you have to retract.
Thumbtack only sends leads from the area you set there. For neighbourhoods you skip inside it, say so in your settings, and it will not promise a visit.
You pay per lead answered. A quiet November costs almost nothing, and closings still get answered the same way.
Yes, on your schedule — by default after ten minutes, after an hour, the next day, after three days and after a week, then it stops. It never keeps writing to someone who stopped replying.
