Google Local Services auto responder for general contractors
On Google, general contractor leads cover a wide range: kitchen and bath remodels, additions, foundations and concrete work. The first message is a sentence or two, and the questions that decide whether the job is worth a site visit are not in it.

What Google Local Services costs general contractors
Start with scope and timing
“Looking to redo our kitchen” could mean new cabinets or moving walls. The reply asks what they want changed and when they hope to start. Those two answers tell you whether to schedule a walkthrough this week or keep it for later.
Messages arrive while you are on a site
Contractors spend the day on jobs, and Local Services messages come in during the same hours. Google counts how quickly you respond when it ranks ads, and the lead is already billed. A reply in about a minute keeps the homeowner talking until you can call.
A real request, and the reply that goes out

We are looking to remodel our kitchen, maybe move the island. House is from 1978. Hoping to start sometime in the spring, not sure what this kind of thing runs.
Happy to take a look — a 1978 kitchen usually means the layout is workable but the wiring and plumbing decide the cost, and moving an island is mostly a question of what is under the slab. Do you know if you are on slab or crawlspace? That is the one answer that changes the number the most, and it helps me tell you a realistic range before we schedule a walkthrough.
How leads behave in this trade
Demand patterns, seasonality and what wins a job are the same whichever platform the lead came from — we cover that on the page for general contractors. This page is about what Google Local Services specifically adds to it.

Questions about Google Local Services from general contractors
Will it give a remodel estimate?
No. It names a price only if it is in your price list. For remodels it says you will confirm after seeing the space.
Does it get a phone number for a callback?
By default the first reply asks for it, so you can call when you are off the site. You can turn that off.
Will it change my Google Ads settings?
No. Budget, service areas, targeting, profile and payment details stay in Google Ads. It only replies to messages that came through your ad.
